Thanks for stopping by!
Whatever has led you to this blog I really hope that you like what you find or can relate to some of the random thoughts floating about its pages.
If i’m not mistaken, you’ve clicked on over here to discover a little more about who I am and what i’m about, well here goes:
I’m Amy, and yeah that’s me down there, happy as larry doing one of my favourite things…exploring.
Although I didn’t always use to look like that.
In fact, there was a time not so long ago when I wasn’t particularly happy with my life or what I was doing.
I was your typical overachiever. I worked myself super hard in school, which soon turned into university, and what I thought would eventually amount to a high flying career in academia.
People thought I was doing great, but deep down I was crying out for help. Something, somewhere told me that this just wasn’t right, that there had to be more to life than this.
So I dropped out, much to the dismay of my friends, parents and relatives.
I initially saw it all as an experiment, a quick break from university, a few traditional ‘gap year’ trips and that would be it. I’d rejoin the next year and note my rebellious year down to a youthful indiscretion.
But, that isn’t exactly what happened. Instead I found that by dropping out of university, I actually learned to drop into life. Several years on I have learned not only how to stand on my own two feet, but also developed more drive and ambition than I ever possessed while studying.
I began to travel more. often. In fact so much that I was changing jobs and career every few months in an effort to see more, do more and be more.
I also picked up some pretty cool friends along the way, along with this guy….
And after a couple months together, and lots of moving around, we decided to move on up to the Lake District together to see what it had in store for us.
And boy did it not disappoint…
My life may not always be stable, or even conventional in the slightest, but as my mum would say, i’ve always done things in extremes. And, so far, it’s paid off.
As for this blog, well i’d like to think it’s a reflection of the life I have created. And in some ways I hope it can inspire someone out there to take a bit of a leap of faith. I promise you there is a big wide world out there begging to be explored, and I promise you that it is so so worth it.
